European research project

ORHI Project

The ORHI project aims to promote the development of a circular economy among stakeholders in the agri-food sector by transforming the organic and plastic materials they generate into value-added resources. A Franco-Spanish cross-border challenge.

88 million tonnes of food are wasted (approximately 20% of food produced).

25.8 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated (approximately 60% in packaging).

Project actions

Identify opportunities and test innovative solutions

A 3-step project:

1. Develop an innovative facilitation method for detecting ideas for inter-company synergies.

2. Identify and deploy Innovative Technologies (IT) and new Business Models contributing to new efficient uses of organic and plastic material flows within companies.

3. Implementation of solutions in the territories. Support for on-farm pico-methanization and modular micro-methanization projects, aquaponics, nanobubble technology for agricultural crops, whey recovery...

Expertise

Innovative method for detecting inter-company synergies

This alternative methodology, adapted by Jean Willaume, encourages and facilitates the deployment of industrial symbioses.
Conducted in the form of inter-company workshops, it allows for the rapid identification of recoverable flow information.
